Well it's Christams Day and I'm waiting for the Turkey to cook, so I have some time to post up another Ork related blog article! A few weeks back I bought this Gargant on ebay - it's a brilliant build given it's made from card and household items. However, it doesn't quite fit the Great Gargant datasheet we use (it's Great Gargant sized but armed more like a Slasha) and the rivets are rather large being made via a regular office hole punch.
So here's the Gargant as bought (the arms are removable which is good for transport).
And here's the start of the changes - rivets being removed prior to re-plating some areas with styrene sheet and smaller rivets.

Degu - counts-as Centaur
I think I got my first Degu for Christmas in 2011, and almost 3 years to the day later, I'm finally building it (and the 2 I bought last week). These are going to be fitted with a plough, and some infantry seated on the back using Victoria Lamb seated legs, and rolled out for my Blood Pact as Centaur alternatives. I'll be adding some stored rocket reloads on the back for my Thudd Gun/Nebelwerfers and claiming the poor ammo storage location, and propensity for the crew to ride on the top is why the vehicle has the open-topped rule.

Pulsa Rokkit
I won one of these old school models on Ebay last week, and I felt compelled to get it on the table somehow . I'll run it in Apoc with some custom rules, but in the meantime it can serve as a nice piece of scenery on this ramp I threw together with some I-beam strip styrene. Since I took the photo it got a boat load of rivets added - I'll photograph it again when it's got some paint on it.

Fenryll Big Gun
Just following up from the post the other day with a picture of the assembled Fenryll cannon. The model looks to me to be stupidly short - no trails or similar on the gun, so I have added some. This helps bring the gun closer to the modern Mek Gun size too, and more in keeping with the rest of the squad.

Armorcast Cannon of Khorne
Finally got my hands on one of these- really happy to as I've wanted one for years!
I'll repaint it eventually, but it'll help complete my full set of Daemon Engines.

IAR-93 Part 2
Some paint applied - it still needs work on the underside (pin wash and second coat of blue), then the decals and we're done.

Big Gunz
My Orks got an outing recently in the Second Battle for Armageddon game we (Animosity) ran up at Slayer Games in Mansfield. I got absolutely blown to pieces in the pseudo Apocalypse game, so for the 3rd War I'm thinking I need to beef up my support weapons. We're heading to a 5k limit for each Ork player so I need to paint some more toys!
We're using the old style force orgs, and can't have anything from a second force org until the first is full. What this means for me is that I need to upgrade squads before I can add new ones as I only have a few slots free at 4k (I fill the first force org, and part of the second). The first unit I want to enlarge is my Big/Mek Gunz unit.
So here's what's coming:
Hop Splat Gun (as a Kannon), I'll need to base this and add some as it's very small by modern standards.
Fenryll Miniatures Goblin Cannon (another Kannon), but I'll be adding some trails to help balance the look of this one.
Kromlech Howitzer (for the Lobba unit)
Some spare Ork weapon carriages for another Lobba and a Zzap gun.

IAR-93 Part 1
A fighter jointly produced by Romania and Yugoslavia in the late 70s and early to mid 80s. This is an expensive resin kit which is a bit of a pig - here you can see me replacing the undercarriage covers with greenstuff.

IAR-316 Part 1
Simply a Romanian produced version of the Alouette.
Some painting still to do and the rotors to re-add. I'll revisit this after our game and add the decals I have already.

20mm Romanian MLI-84s Part 2
A little more work on these, I've added the rear AA MG in place of the 4th hatch. Mostly sytrene work and Dushka guns from Elheim.
2 more weeks and we'll be back to 40k, promise!

20mm Cold War TR-77 Part 2
95% done now, I just need to paint some some details, and then later add decals and bases (probably after our big game in December). The 3rd tank is still in bits on the desktop - if my headache doesn't return on Wednesday night I should be able to get that done.

20mm Romanian MLI-84s Part 1
The Romanian version of the BMP-1 was the MLI-84. These were longer than the Russian versions, and traded one roof hatch for a machine gun mount. I'm using S-Model kits with some conversion work. I won't be stretching them as it's too much work to do well; the hull would be no issue but adding a mm here and there between the road wheels would be a royal pain in the backside!

20mm Cold War TAB-71 Part 2
It's almost done now - but this is a terrible photo! Just need to paint the crew man and glue him in looking in the direction that the turret gun is pointing.

20mm Cold War Romanian 120mm Mortars Part 1
Here's the start of my Romanian M1982 120mm mortars. Elheim generic 120mms with new base plates, and when done some removal of details which don't match the Romanian versions.

Tempest
I bought this on a Ebay a few months back - I've always wanted one of these as I had an Epic one years ago and loved the model. Obviously the colours are pretty unpleasant, so it'll be getting a respray (well a strip and respray).

Heresy Era Landraider
I don't think I've ever posted about this before - although I've had it partly assembled for years. It's a Landraider with the Chapterhouse parts on it. The parts stylistically look great, but the casting was a bit off - hence the amount of filing before these fitted well. I used several IG Lascannons in the sponsons and added extra plating to cover up the swivel mechanism, which was too apparent. Tracks are from Blood and Skulls, and ultimately this will be joining my Sons of Horus army.

Spores are back!
Well sort of, the new 'Nid Tyrannocyte fills the role of a drop pod (actually more like the Dreadclaw in that it can move ). Either way, I really need to get a move on and finish these pods, that my friend Linton made for me just before I left Canada - the right one was designed to fit into a crater, but will now need some rework to base it for these new rules.

Iron Warriors - Dark Apostle
I realise that the Iron Warriors are not really the army to include a Dark Apostle if we're being totally fluffy, but I had been given the remains of the Finecast model (just the main piece). I wanted to be able to make use of this, but since I already have an apostle for my Black Legion, I thought I'd convert this one into something I could use elsewhere. The replacement chest piece was just a spare CSM one, likewise with the backpack and Chaos symbol. The bionic leg is just pieces of styrene with Greenstuff for the the rubber gaiters on the joints. One of the hands will be a CSM bolt pistol, and the other will be a a converted Grey Knights warding staff (when I can find one)·

20mm Cold War Romanian Infantry Part 2
Not a great photo but it shows the progress so far of the guys in the summer uniform - 11 done and shown here with the first SD-100 completed.
Urghul - one of my own
Before GW brought out the Court of the Archon models I started assembling a set of my own. I never finished all 4 as GW did in fact release theirs, but I never got rid of that set of half done models either. Whilst clearing oujt some stuff I came across this guy and decided to finish him using the spare head from the Finecast Urghul. Legs are from a Ghoul, torso is a Skeleton warrior torso with some plastic rod and greenstuff.
These photos were taken before I had completed the greenstuff work - the shoulder on the left in the pic below is now done.

20mm Cold War TAB-71 Part 1
Another item for my Cold War Romanian army is a TAB-71, which is a Romanian copy of the Soviet BTR-60 with local customisations. The model I've used is a Hobbyden BTR-60 with a re-profiled nose, which is the principal difference. The outstanding jobs are to add the round sight on the side of the turret then paint.

20mm Cold War Romanian Infantry Part 1
The infantry for my Romanian force are all Elheim Russians or East Germans with custom heads sporting Romanian helmets, also sculpted by Matt at Elheim.
The Russians, in addition to requiring a head swap, also need their trouser legs trimming at the top and bulking at the bottom to resemble more conventional leg wear. The figures are supplied with the Soviet style trousers that are baggy in the thigh and worn with tall boots.
Here are 2 sets of PIP shots of some Motor Rifle troops in both the summer uniform and the camouflage oversuit.
Here's the group shot showing the first batch before they were painted and sporting the lengthened trousers and custom Romanian heads.
