More Apocalypticon work, and Gary the Gargant

Not much to say, still going full speed on terrain for Apocalypticon which is in 2 weeks! The Pyramids shown below were almost finished in this shot. I've been doing quite a lot of other pieces that I can't share until after the event, and Scott has been painting up the centre piece I made earlier in the year - more photos when we won't spoil the surprise for the players. While I've been spraying and brushing, the printer has been turning out Gary here. Still needs his banners, but I think he looks ace. I printed him at 150% which caused a little bit more work, as I had to cut some pieces to fit on the printer, but I really like the old school Gargant look.

Painting the 8' wall begins!

Painting the sections of the 8' wall has begun. I've almost done 50% of the upper section now (this photo is a few days old). This leaves the base sections some of which have been given a grimy wash, the rest of the upper sections and all the turrets and bunkers. At least everything has been primed grey, so it's just washes, detail works and dry brushing to go.

After posting this, I realised I never shared the full photo of the wall here, so here's one of it printed and then dropped in place to see how it'd work. The piece in front of the ramp is the walkway that goes over the gate.

Necron Fort

No posts for a while, as life has been a rollercoaster. My wife got pregnant, then decided she no longer wished to be my wife, which has meant I've been clearing out the house and small holding so we can sell it. On top of this I finally got a new job which doesn't take up 95% of my time, so I've actually been able to get some more terrain done for Apocalypticon, which is at the end of next month.

Almost done on the fort - great service from David at 3DAlienWorlds who made me a custom piece to make the walkway fit!

I printed a load more Necron terrain, but a lot of it is off with a friend for painting.

In other news, my wife has taken all of our animals with her to her family's farm, so this week I had to say goodbye to my 3 lovely ladies, Cecilie, Ellie and Lottie.

Animated Fusion Generator

I've recently sold a load of board games and treated myself to a new 3D printer as my Ender 5 seems to now what to produce anything useful anymore. I've got a Bambu P1S as a friend was producing awesome results without the level of setup/tweaking needed by the old Enders. To test it out I printed a fusion generator with an electric tealight in it, which will make an appearance at Apocalypticon.

GF9 Orbital Relay

I recently bought one of the new GF9 Gothic Sector, Battlefield in a Box items, and I'd thought I'd share what it looks like. It's well painted for a mas market prepaint, and the magnets, and predrilled holes are a great idea, and make this so much more likely to get to the table intact.

40k Civilian Truck

I'm not sure where I got thios now - I can't find it on Cults so it may have been Thingiverse. It's a truck, which I'm using for a civilians, essentially scenery. I did print all the extra bull bars and head light guards, but they made it look too military in my opinion, so I didn't fit them. Also I should say I printed this at 80% and it's a touch bigger than the Aurochs - at 100% it would have been way too big.

Mining Heavy Melta

This was another outcome of some misprints being repurposed. A mis-scaled Sentinel Multimelta gave me an idea for some mining terrain. Combining a second mirrored melta with an upscaled chassis from the mining weapons I'd already made, gave me a heavy melta drilling machine. Sadly one of the barrels got a bit warped, and I've tried to fix it with Brown Stuff - also the finish is very rough.

Making the best

I've had quite a few failed prints of late, and burned a tonne of resin. The 3 Eldar wing parts all warped horribly and the Hevonen was badly damaged underneath, so added wheels was impossible. Rather than just add to landfill, I made terrain, using up some of my pots of sand and sheets of board, which was also good.

40k Containers - Man in a box? We'll see!

Since my friend King Fluff is getting out of the events business, he's selling off a lot of his scenery and I was lucky enough to be able to get some of his containers for use at Barnhammer. All credit to him for the building and painting.

Eldar Power Generator

Another 3D model I found on Thingiverse years ago, combined with a crystal also found there. It printed roughly quite a while back, but I've finally got it painted and based.

Fallen Kan WIP

This was one of the first things I ever 3d printed, but the print failed, and a whole horizontal section failed to print. now with a bit more time, I filled in the missing bit with some heading-past-its-best greenstuff, and then added some details.

Next step, find things to fill the rest of the base and paint!

Obelisks

Something 40k related again! I finally got paint on my 3d printed Necron terrain from back in the summer. The 25mm slotta is included for scale.

Radar Tower

This is a bit of 28mm scenery that came about as a result of one of my 28mm Marauders failing to print. It's actually a salvaged piece of fuselage with a door and radar found on Thingiverse, and a section of styrene sheet. Just need to cut an mdf base, paint and maybe add greebles to the roof.

Marauder bomber, Scenery

Originally I intended to use this as a token for some airstrike stuff in AT (narrative event stuff) but since GW has given us some beautiful AI models, I'll go with those instead. I expect crossover rules at some point now too. Anyway, this will now be attached to one of my landing pads as a landed bomber - cover for knights at least. As usually, it's printed from an STL found on Thinigverse.

Provisions for the new year

Another piece of 3D printing from

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3094961

As before, my printer is having issues with the round items in the sacks for some reason.

Cabbage patch kid

Well actually sans kid. This is a little STL I picked up in an advent calendar I supported on Kickstarter, but it didn't print all that well on my printer - it still has issues with dome shapes for some reason. Anyway, didn't want to waster the print so added some Stirland mud and green paint and here we are.
