Khorne, 2 for the Price of 1!

For those that don't know, the Lord Invocatus kit essentially contains almost all the bits to build both the aforementioned named character, and the generic lord. The only bit that's common to both builds is the 2 halves of the juggernaut's body. Since no one has made a 3d printable body, which they have for one of the Tyranid kits which has the same setup, I decided to make a Greenstuff press mould using Bluestuff. Here's the results. A few bits didn't copy that well so I added bits from the bits box to hide that fact. The riders are still WIP as I've been working on a few other things to get them off my work desk so I can get onto Apocalypticon terrain.

Forgeworld World Eaters

In my brief flurry of pulling out my Khorne armies and working on them, I pulled out this set of original FW Berzerkers. I'd stashed them with all the bits years ago, but finally glued them together. One update was to 3D print some Excoriator chain weapons and fill in two of the squad. Backpacks are left off and attached after painting.

Fabius Bile

Day 2 is over, and this is auto publishing, so I'll update how the weekend went shortly. In the meanwhile, here's my new Warlord, Fabius Bile.

Melee Cultists

I've probably just spent a day being battered at 40k - not enough time to practice this list, or indeed play 40k at all so it's all an uphill struggle. My list called for some cultists, and since the sort that I had before are now in Legends, I pulled out some half painted figures from a couple of my old school cultists, made a valid squad and got them finished. Before traitor guardsmen were a thing, my IW cultists were just that. Models are a mix of GW Cadians and Chaos Marauders, Blight Wheel, Anvil and some long departed bits firms.

Legionnaire Champion

While you are reading this, I'm on my way to Stockport for the Northern Warlord's Summer Team event. We used to do this event, but with players having busy lives, we dropped for a few years. Now we've got some new recruits we're taking the Animosity Team back there again. Like most events lately, I find myself short of a squad Sgt or several. Thankfully this time it's just one.

Iron Warriors Bikers

Usually I'm pleased with my paintjobs, but these I'm not. Rushed, on horrid models, and even converting with some printed and Raptor left overs didn't make me feel better about them. The only good thing is that they are done!

Iron Warriors Predator

Old FW Predator, done for my IW.

Cypher

Another cupboard of doom veteran, Cypher, although it's the new model, so it can't be that old.

Iron Warriors Warp Talons

I've had these years, but finally got to slap some paint on them - same complaints as yesterday's chosen, too fiddly!

Iron Warrior Chosen

If  there's something I like less than painting infantry, it's painting highly detailed infantry, and I've had weeks of it. Weeks because my free time is pretty limited at the moment, and I need lots done for an event in June. Of course this time of the year is quite busy on our small holding and the day job has been requesting extra hours too. Anyway, here are my chosen, a mix of GW bits and 3D printed parts. They aren't my best paint job, but they are done at least.

Traitor Guard - The Blooded

In my stash I've had a box of The Blooded Kill Team for quite a while. I have to say I love the KT sprues as there's so much variety, and it's pretty neat how you can build the different options for each figure, and have them look so different using a single base figure. That said I really don't like the fact you need to buy 2-3 boxes to build all the options. To get around that I found some traitor guard like STLs (I think based on The Blooded) and mixed and matches to use everything (except one set of spikes) from the boxed set. Once I'd finished, I could field 4 Cadian platoons worth of traitors, one command squad and thanks to a failed print, a set of heavy weapon crews. I mated these with some mortar STLs to make up the full set.

The figures built as per the box

Using spare arms to make more riflemen, the GW torso is mated with a greenstuff copy of a back plate.

The Command Squad plus one regular guy

More sergeants and specialists

This kit has so many heads, here we're using complete 3d bodies with the GW heads, which do need to be trimmed to fit.

More heads, and a regimental banner using an old CSM bit.

Last few pure 3d printed guys to make the numbers up to full squads.

The last print failed, so I retried it and got 5 surplus guys - add one more and 3 mortars and here we are.

2nd Vindicator Laser Destroyer

I was hoping to have completed the 2 Basilisks I started recently, but after a poor showing in a practice recently, they were parked, incomplete. The event is a local doubles one-day narrative one, and we're taking White Scars with Loyalist Iron Warriors. I had hope to go super thematic with Basilisks, as the Scars player is full on jetbikes and Lan Speeders, but the lack of good AP made me think that they won't cut it. I've therefore gone back to a couple of Laser Destroyers and some other toys - the Basilisks aren't cheap! The VLD was started last year but got dropped when I found there's no datasheet for them in 10th (although the other one made an appearance in the end using a Predator stat block when I needed to find more points quickly).
