Just back from Warhamarchy in Newcastle where I at least won one game! I'll post up pics of the units I got painted for this event over the next few days. In the meantime, here's my Lord of Skulls alternative - yes the axe is a bit rough, but I didn't have time to reprint him, so he is as is.
My list called for a Lord of Skulls, and while I do have one, it's unbuilt in a box, and there's no way I could have built and painted it in time. Thereofre I trew together this from files found on the internet. Based on an original Epic Lord of Battles, scaled up with bits from Havocs, Berzerkers, and Warsmith Dantioch's head.
No updates as I've been painting like mad to get an army ready for an event this weekend - my first playing 9th, and I'm taking my Iron Warriors. I needed to pad out my cultists, so wire I had the spray out I did a few extras. The ones needed for the game are in the first picture, all done.
First fully painted 'British' Ork. I'm not sure if the helmets will go to black for the rest, like my other Blood Axes, or stay grey like this chap. Obvious a mix, 3d printed bits, Fox Box/Ramshackle missile launcher and head from probably Kromlech. The knife arm is actually an old WHFB GW bit!
Named after an old Peugeot, obviously. The second of my Mortificator's unit, another old school Space Crusade dreadnought, being used as regular boxnaughts.
I bought a few 30k Iron Warrior squads a while back, and they were built as veterans although not optimally. I wanted to run them as two tacticals, which meant moving the melta gunners to a support squad, and backfilling with bolter troops. Since the squads were all Mark 4 and I love variety, I used Mark 3 for the replacements and extra support squad troops.
Another of my 30K Iron Warriors, a £D printed apothecary, with a genuine chainsword at least. He seems to be a touch tall, coming in at the new Chaos marine height, and probably with match the forthcoming 30k figures very well - I'm not sure if that's a plus or not.
Some of the Orks I took last weekend were my VC themed ones. After painting these I'm not happy with the heads up close, but I have plans to make some more using some better free heads I found online, and then I'll most likely share them up on Cults or Thingiverse.
My Warlord from the recent Xenocide event (for my Imperials) was a Mortificator. Made from an old metal Techmarine, which had lost its gun, axe shaft and backpack long cables. The pistol was saved from one broken off an arm. The back pack had a piece of tube added for a vent, and the axe shaft was remade from metal rod, and drilled into a plastic hand which was grafted to the original model.
Another piece from the Fluff fandex, an Ork Scrap Kannon. The gun was something I found online, and then changed with some custom 3D designed parts to have wheels. Crew are also online finds, with a spare boonie hat wearing head added.
Another member of my 30k Iron Warriors, a Mk.3 Apothecary. Simply a GW Mk.3 marine with arm and pack from Kromlech, and a chainsword from the old Chaos marine kit.
