It's been a while!

 I haven't posted for ages as I've had a roller coaster ride lately. We moved on the 26th of May, and on the same day as we were packing up the removal van, I heard through the grapevine that I'd lost my job. Two months later, I'm working again, but with a punishing schedule, longer hours and 2 day per week getting up at 4am and home at 10:30pm to be in the office. In the middle of this, I'm trying to get the new place sorted, do jobs on the acres we have, repair a tractor etc etc. Lately it's been moving Chickens on site, after that the horse, then some sheep - so as I say crazy busy as we already have 2 dogs and several thousand bees!

The only 40k I've done since the move is repair one of the Blood Slaughterers, and make these guys. The Harlequin and 2 of the Ogryns are for Blackstone Fortress, the other is of course Nork, for 40k. No idea when I'll get chance to do more.

Vampire Raider

 Here is the biggest resin print I have ever made - an Eldar Vampire Raider. I started of with these files for a Hunter, and then added these 3rd party fin, and made up my own remixes for the guns and sensors. I had a hell of a game printing this, hence all the failed parts that I made into scenery. For Barnhammer, this is the personal transport of the Void Prince of Mai-Bai.

Eldar City tile

I found this a while back online, it's an Eldar city tile for Planetary Empires. I'm still hunting for an affordable copy of that for campaigns, but in the meanwhile I'm slowly printing up a few more custom tiles - maybe this will ultimately be combined into something for the Barnhammer narrative.

Armorcast Era Revenant / Shade Titan

Well it's a 3D print version of the same, but as close as I'm ever likely to get. I'm currently printing a couple, one with the classic weapon opens, and one with the revised set from this creator. I'll be adding some Apocalypse 2019 rules for them, but listing them as 'Shade' titans rather than  confuse the issue with old and new names being the same. Here's the first one finished, with alternative armament options. I'm still debating which secondary gun to fit, Shuriken Cannon or Multilaser? This one will be getting my Mai-Bai scheme, whilst the classic will be Alaitoc. Some of the bigger parts were done on my new Elegoo Saturn 2, which is great for these bigger pieces.

Warlock Titan - first steps

After indulging in a buying a few big STLs, I found I needed a bigger printer. Hence a load of stuff has gone onto Ebay: board games, old 40k books, Warhammer Quest (incomplete), all my Warmachine, Old Blood Bowl and some old models kits. I've now ordered an Elegoo Saturn 2, which is 8k resolution and a much bigger printing bed. I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives. In the  meantime, the very old Anycubic Photon has been packed up, ready to go to a friend to get him started, and my Photon Mono has been working to print the smaller parts of these larger models. First out of the gate we have a Warlock titan head - you can guess what's following! The Sentinel cab is just for scale. The two fins are the leg fins for a Phantom, and since mine only had some the I designed, and was never happy with, these will be modified and grafted onto my Phantom before it gets it's paint repaired.

Maugan Ra

 I found an STL for a scan of the old Maugan Ra, and was using a modified version of his cannon for my Corsairs. I did a quick print of the original and stuck it on an old 40mm base I made back in Canada - casino chip base. I have no idea what was on this base originally, but presumably it needed something bigger due to a GW base upscaling.

Corsairs - almost there!

Almost at the end of the Corsairs! Since after doing 30 Void Reavers and 10 Void Scarred for close assault and the same number of rifle armed squads, I decided to build the last 24 models as Guardian analogues (plus 4 HQ characters) - given my custom Craftworld is basically a pirate haven it makes sense for some of the troops to be outfitted with Guardian equipment. You've already seen many of the Corsairs wear Guardian helmets, so I'll need to create some fiction to explain all this in due time. I decided to do a squad with Catapults and one as Storm Guardians with close assault weapons. This means two of my Corsair detachments in our Apocalypse game will be:

Void Prince (Autarch)

Void Dreamer (Farseer)

1 x Void Scarred

3 x Void Reavers

1 x Guardians 

Plus transports as needed.

Onto the models:

Last 4 Void Reavers with sword and pistol and one with Wraith Cannon.

Last 4 rifle armed Reavers

First 8 Storm Guardians

I'm waiting for the post to complete the 2 Flamers for the guardians as well as arms to complete some Reaver Felarchs. 

Corsairs - after these, the last 40!

I've been building more heavy weapons troops, using the same Shuriken cannon as before, but I tweaked the file to now include the guardian arm. The Wraith cannons use the back half of the Shuriken cannon, the nose of a scaled down Wraith cannon for Wraithguard. I had to replace most of the fins as the first set all broke.

Next batch, most of the arms aren't aligning well so everything needs GS work - tiresome.

Even more (but Darker) Corsairs

Originally I bought the Dark Elf Corsairs to combine with the left over Void Scarred bits, but since I found better STLs, this kit got parked. Revisiting it, I used some scrap Shuriken pistols, which I'd printed undersized (but which looked fine on these guys) to make another squad of slightly theatrical Corsairs. The guys without arms will be special and heavy weapons once I get the necessary bits.

Harlequin Jetbike

 I found this whilst packing up - so I'm sharing it here, but I intend to bring this back into Apocalypse at least over on the Big Toys blog - just need a couple more and a bit of time!

Aeldari Corsairs

 Like the Arbites, I've been 3d printing a load of extra bodies to use up the spare bits, and then going over board so I now own 90 Corsairs - but luckily another big player at Barnhammer- detail once we get moved and paint starts landing on these models.

Eldar Corsair HQs

You are probably thinking that there are no Corsair HQs, even if you are running legends. This is sort of true, way back when, FW did have a Void Prince and a Void Dreamer in their publications. For the former, you used an Autarch, and for the later, I guess a Farseer or similar. As I do have some old FW Corsair models, and have printed some bits to field a few more, I really fancied making some suitable HQs, usable with modern rules, that I could run with them.

My Void Prince is from the AOS range, a Scinari Loreseeker with 3d printed jump pack, fusion pistol and head. 

The Void Dreamer is also from the AOS range, an Isharann Tidecaster, also with a jump pack, new head and the staff head replaced with a singing spear tip.

The two beasts are from Kromlech and look suitably Gyrinx like, albeit bigger and more ferocious, and are just here for show.

This is now fully assembled,  except for the head, and will head off to be base coated shortly. I didn't attach the head as it needs to be yellow rather than the blue of the rest of the model.

As per the title, all the bits are now stuck back together - first time since he took his tumble in 2019!
